Toyota 1JZ-GTE In A Mercedes Benz???

Ok is time to unveil the all important ingredient for my project car which is the engine... Why "FrankenBenz'??? Here is your answer... Just like 'Frankenstein', I'm actually dumping a Japanese engine into my beloved Benz... So now you know why I name my car 'FrankenBenz'...

I know some of you might say what the hell is a Japanese engine doing inside a German car... My answer to you will be "Mine Your Own Business"!!! This is my car and I can do anything I want as long as I'm happy with it!!!

For those who likes the idea of dumping a Japanese engine into a German car, please read on... The reason why I choose a Japanese engine instead of a German one is really simple... POWER and TORQUE is the answer... In order to get the power and torque that I need, I need a 4.2L M119 engine from 'Mercedes' which produces 275bhp and 400Nm... Do you think is feasible to dump a V8 'Mercedes' engine into my car??? I know the V8 sounds real good but RM7500++ for a year of roadtax sounded just as good!!! Besides that, it is not easy to find a M119 engine in Malaysia as well... So the cheapest alternative is still the Japanese...

'Toyota Soarer' halfcut...

So why a 'Toyota' engine??? I did compared this engine to 'Nissan' RB25DET engine which is in the same category as the 'Toyota' 1JZ-GTE engine... But after asking around, I decided to go with the 'Toyota' because it is much more powerful... Besides that, I like the clean looks of the engine unlike the RB25DET which looks like a mess!!! After deciding on 'Toyota' engine, I faced another dilemma because there are two options for me to choose... A 1JZ-GTE with twin turbo or a 1JZ-GTE with single turbo but with VVTi??? Which one to choose??? At first I'm incline towards the latter because it is a newer engine but I can't find a good halfcut so I decided to stick with the older version of the engine...

The 1JZ-GTE is a 2.5L inline six engine that came with two turbochargers... The power quoted is 280bhp at 6200rpm and 363Nm of torque at 4800rpm... So if you compare it to my previous 'Mercedes' M103 engine, this engine is a BEAST!!! To me, there is nothing to be ashamed about having a Japanese engine inside your Benz when you manage to smoke almost everyone on the road!!! Priceless!!!

To be continue...

initially it was done at a workshop in gombak... car was running fine but the way they do the wiring is not that neat... so I resend my car to a workshop in seremban that specializes in transplanting 1JZ/2JZ into merc and bmw... but unfortunately, I don't have the address to the workshop in seremban... I only know how to go...
