Sumi Nabe Steamboat

I've said it a few times and I'm going to say it again... I don't fancy steamboat!!! But (there's a but this time...) before I proceed let me introduce you to a restaurant that changes everything... I'm proud to say I'm a convert now!!! I'm in love with steamboat now but (again a but) only if we dine at 'Sumi Nabe Steamboat'... This is a steamboat restaurant that I'm willing to go without pulling a long face... So what is so special about this particular restaurant??? First of all, they categorize themselves as a 'Japanese' steamboat restaurant... Secondly, they uses charcoal instead of gas and thirdly, they uses porcelain/ceramic (don't really know whether is it porcelain or ceramic) instead of stainless steel for the pot...

The charcoal that they use are not those found in 'satay' stall which produce lots of smoke and not forgetting dirty as well... They uses high quality charcoal that is extremely hot and smokeless and this is what I really like about it...

One of the must try item is definitely the chilli!!! Only one word to describe it... AWESOME!!!

This is the pot that I'm talking about... The benefit of using this instead of stainless steel is because it retain heat a lot better... I have something like this at home (mine is made from glass) and I can really feel the heat even when the gas has been turn off for quite some time...

Only one type of broth available so good news for those that have difficulties choosing... The broth is really what I like about this restaurant... Really sweet and I don't feel thirsty after drinking it which is something really important to me...

Nicely decorated and not forgetting cozy as well...

Frankly speaking, their menu are somewhat limited... But fret not as there are side orders which you can always order!!! They revise the price recently and it cost RM35 for a set (the picture above is not the one which cost RM35 as I took this picture a few months back) which is more than enough for the two of us...

Vegetables are all organic according to the owner...

Not so sure about these though...

All these above are included in the set but there are some difference in some of the items as they revise the price and some of the ingredients...

Additional pork strip that we ordered... If I'm not mistaken it cost RM15???

Once the soup starts to boil, there is no way you can turn the heat down...

Charcoal mee that is incredible... Really good taste and I really like the texture of it... I don't like to eat mee that feels mushy!!!

So there you go... The restaurant that single-handedly change my diet!!! From a hater to a lover in terms of steamboat...

Zagg By Logitech

Between physical and virtual keyboard, I will definitely choose the former as I like the feeling of typing on a real keyboard... And here's the problem when it comes to 'iPad' as it came with a virtual keyboard that lacks feel when typing on it...

But fret not as this problem can be solve easily... Introducing the 'Zagg' keyboard made by 'Logitech'... Before I got my 'iPad 2', I saw this keyboard from the Internet... After seeing the price tag, I decided to give up on it as it is expensive and not available in 'Malaysia' at the moment... Instead I got myself a normal casing to protect my 'iPad 2'...

Nowadays, 'Logitech' is trying to clear off this particular keyboard as they have a new model... And this is good news for me as the price is much more affordable as compare to before... I don't mind it being an old design as I still love its aluminum body and the construction looks really sturdy and solid... The downside of this keyboard compare to the new one is the bulk of it... Much more bulkier and harder to store the 'iPad'...

Those are small problems for me as the feeling of typing on a physical keyboard far outweights the cons of it... I'm really happy with my purchase and this is a highly recommended add on for those who type a lot on their 'iPad'... In fact, I type this entire blog post using it!!!

My Most Expensive Parking!!!

Normally whenever we went travelling (which required us to fly), we would most probably get someone to fetch us or took a cab to the airport... This time round, we don't have anybody to drive us there so my darling suggested we drove there instead... The moment she told me that, I looked at her astonished!!! Then I gathered my composure and asked whether she's out of her mind... "Do you know how expensive it is to park at the airport"??? And her answer is a "yes"... So she started to explain saying that it is actually much cheaper compare to taking cab... After listening to her, it really does make sense to drive and park there...

Our flight to 'Singapore' is early in the morning and it required us to start our journey at around 5 something in the morning and I believe the cab fare would be around RM80 or more per trip!!! This in fact was much more expensive compared to our parking and I have not added in the trip back which will set us back another RM80 or more... So as a conclusion, if you're going on a short trip, it is wiser to drive and park at the airport... If you're travelling light and alone, then this is a different story as you can take other types of public transport that's much more cost effective...

John Carter

In my personal opinion, I find 'John Carter' kind of old school (since it was based on a book written in 1917 so I guessed you can't really blame them)... Besides, they decide to mix and match a few movies together and the outcome is 'John Carter'... Is it just me or do you guys find a lot of similarities between this particular movie with 'Star Wars', 'Gladiator' and even 'Avatar'??? I do...

Nothing wrong with the movie overall just that it feels boring from time to time... And it feels a little bit confusing at first... What I really like is the ending... A slight twist is what I really like in movies... Another thing that I really like is 'Woola'!!! Suppose to be a hound on Mars I guess... It looks cute in a weird kind of way...

'Woola' with 'John Carter'...

Overall nothing to shout nor complaint about this movie... If your time is really precious then I suggest you skip this movie and save the time and money for some other movie instead (in the future maybe... 'The Avengers', 'Battleship' and etc)...

Jumbo Seafood Restaurant @ East Coast Seafood Centre, Singapore

When one visit 'Singapore', what is the food that's high on the must eat list??? For me, definitely the chilli crab... I know we can get chilli crab here in 'Malaysia' as well but according to my darling (who had tasted it before), it was one of the best crab she ever tasted and not forgetting the size of the claw!!!

So this time round, my wonderful friends in 'Singapore' decided to let me feast my eyes and not forgetting my taste bud as well on this culinary wonder...

Fried mini squid that is super duper crunchy and flavourful!!!

Very sinful to eat this!!! Guess my cholesterol level will sky-rocket to a new height!!! BIG prawns by the way...

Here comes the cream of the crop!!!

OMG, notice the super duper BIG crab claw??? According to the waiter, I'm really unfortunate because the supply of crabs that day were a lot smaller... What??? This is BIG enough for me!!! The taste is definitely better than those I've tried in 'Malaysia' and there is no doubt about that... Besides that, the crab is super fresh and the meat is juicy and sweet as well... My God, I totally agree with my darling now...

Just look at the claw and they said this is one of the smallest around!!! Hmm notice anything unusual??? They actually provide apron for their customers!!! That's not all because besides apron, they provide gloves as well!!! All my friends decided to wear it and I go the manly way of dirtying my hands and shirt!!! Frankly speaking, I regretted for not wearing the apron cause my shirt is bloody awful at the end of the day!!!

Gloves that I mention earlier...

One of the side dish that really compliments the chilli crab is none other than deep fried 'mantou'... In 'Malaysia' we only have deep fried version (if I'm not wrong)...

But in 'Jumbo' they serve steamed one as well... As I don't fancy steam stuff, so I did not try it... No comment on how it goes with the chilli crab gravy but what I can say is deep fried 'mantou' with chilli crab gravy rocks!!!

They have a lot of other variants but we opt for chilli and black pepper... Doesn't look promising at first glance but trust me, after sinking my teeth on one, I'm hook... And at the end of the day, black pepper is the one I choose... Surprisingly but yes, it is that good!!!

Bottom line is, 'Jumbo' really knows a thing or two on cooking crabs!!! This is by far the best crab experience I have... Thanks to all my friends in 'Singapore' for this lovely dinner... :)

308 Turbo With Cracked Windscreen!!!

I believe I'm really unfortunate when it comes to motoring life as I'm always plagued with different kind of problems... This was definitely not the first time I've experienced a cracked windscreen... In fact, this would be my fourth time since I started driving...

It started with a tiny spot right beside the 'AMD' sticker... My darling don't really remember when she got hit on the windscreen but we decided to get it repair after having breakfast... And you know what happened after our breakfast???

It started to cracked almost half the length of the windscreen!!! We got a shocked of our life when we saw it... So off we go searching for a windscreen repairer urgently... We managed to find one called 'Dr Cermin' located in 'Setapak'... When they saw our windscreen, their first thing they told us was the windscreen need to be replace... No point repairing it as the cracked was way too long...

But we decided to repair anyway as our insurance coverage was not enough to replace a third party one let alone original... Third party one cost around RM1200 and original one cost around RM3000!!! We were going to wait till we renew our windscreen insurance and pay more premium for the windscreen so that we are able to change to a original one... That was the plan...

They obliged to our request but they won't guaranteed that it would work as the cracked was really too long to begin with... We decided to gamble with it and give the go ahead...

They started by drilling a tiny hole at the end of the crack... The reason they did this was because they were going to inject the sealant in through the tiny hole so that the sealant will flow along the crack and seal it... That's the objective...

 Applying sealant...

The tools for making this work...

After applying the sealant, the crack area was covered with a thin piece of plastic and drying process began...

After a while, they started peeling off the plastic cover...

The end result!!! Still managed to see the crack nearer to the 'A pillar' but those nearer to the center was gone!!! Definitely better than before...

This was done before 'Chinese New Year' and you  know what happened two months later??? It begin to crack again... No choice but to replace the whole windscreen as the crack span more than half the length of the windscreen!!! So based on my experience, if your crack is small/short, faster get it done and you can basically forget about repairing those crack which is longer than four inches long!!! Not worth the money spend because most probably it will start cracking again just like what is happening to us!!! And now I know why I usually don't win when I gamble, cause I sucks at it!!!
